As a mother, significant partner, and a full time worker.... this woman does not have time for self care. This blog was designed to post my daily challenge and victories with all things life. How I plan to walk myself thin for fitness yet stop allowing my daily struggles to walk my mental health thin.

Not about anyone else but ME!
I haven't blogged much lately and I need to. I have just been upset with myself for gaining weight and falling off the bandwagon. Really though - who do I have to impress? When I started blogging I did it for me but some how during my journey I lost sight of goals and reasons why I started the journey in the first place. I started off wanting to lose weight for myself. Not because of some contest, or because I hated what people saw when they looked at me - but because I wanted to feel better inside and out. I want to lose weight for myself. I went into my fat secret account today and changed my diet plan around some and plan on jumping back on the bandwagon. Again I am not going to try some fad diet or workout route. I am going to watch what I eat, drink my water, and walk. It works for ME and that is all that is important.

ReplyDeleteOne of the most difficult parts of the weight-loss journey is the head-games that you have to force yourself to play. Which do I want more, the sweets or the slender body? Is candy more important that the off-the-rack clothing? Would I rather have chips and chocolate than be able to tie my own shoes without going red in the face? One must remember that, along with the carbage, come diabetes, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, Alzheimer's, strokes, and accelerated aging. So, is it the lady or the tiger? The healthy body or the taste-good-now, kill-you-later sweets? I wish that I were exaggerating the comparisons, but I'm not. High blood glucose levels feed cancers, and prematurely age the skin and tissues. It's called "glaciation." Sugar destroys everything it touches, especially us.
We were designed by our Creator to eat animal protein, veg, and wild fruits, which hadn't been hybridized into sugar-bombs like ours are today. We were not designed to eat cereal with skim milk, toast, sandwiches, chips, peas, potatoes, and corn, Cheetos, doughnuts, sugary sodas, and candy. It's a hard truth, but a truth nonetheless. We wouldn't dream of putting sugar into our car's gas tank, but we don't think twice about dumping it into ours.
